16.1 Overview

The Address Book Box manages four types of address books in 2BizBox: the Customer Address Book, Vendor Address Book, Department Address Book, and Manufacturer Address Book. An Address Book contains not only contact information of customers and vendors, but also other information such as shipping information, tax rate, and discount rate. In 2BizBox, most of the orders such as Sales Orders, Purchase Orders and Work Orders are created from an address. Therefore, proper management of the address book and permission assignment is one of the important implementation steps.

There is always confusion about these four types of addresses. Customers can also be Vendors if they produce materials that you need for manufacturing. Vendors can sometimes be Departments; for example, a WO’s vendor can be an internal department of the company or an outsourcing factory. Vendors can also be the manufacturers when they manufacture and sell materials at the same time. As long as there are businesses running, there will not be strict boundaries among these address types. Therefore, we also provide an option not to separate Customers, Vendors and Departments if you have very complex business dealings.

Despite separating Customers/Vendors/Departments or not, you may manage them in the “Customer & Vendor” sub module. Manufacturers are always in the “Manufacturer” sub module.

For 2BizBox, an address book is required to be established in the system. Moreover, to achieve clear financial and business management, the manufacturing department and accounting department should also be given an independent Address ID to distinguish the duties of the departments.
